Narcissistic Personality Disorder The whole crux of the condition is built on the premise that, for the narcissist, other people do not really exist except to serve the narcissist and prop up their false image of themselves. Not having individuated as people, narcissists believe the world revolves around them and is intensely interested in them. In believing this they are especially harmful people, and cause untold damage to their children in particular. |
How the Narcissistic Mother Breaks Her Child’s Heart
1. She puts the child's needs after everyone else’s-all the time.
2. She discourages the child from loving both parents equally.
3. She makes the child feel responsible for everything bad that happens.
4. She fails to adequately protect the child and sometimes encourages physical abuse.
5. She tries to make the child believe the other parent is bad or “crazy” or not worthy of love.
6. She forces others into the child's life at the exclusion of the other parent.
7. She rejects the child when the child seeks love.
8. She enlists others in the emotional abuse toward the child.
9. She methodically destroys the child’s own sense of reality and she imposes hers.
10. She methodically harms the child’s own self image. She manipulates others in doing the same.
11. She plays the victim and often makes the child feel like the perpetrator.
